Statul român nu-i primeşte înapoi

Family living in Sweden nightmare for a family expelled from Ceausescu because
they crumbled the political egos of communism

A  family who wants to return to their Romanian land and who for decades lived with troubles caused by communist policy egos because they had the audacity to protest against the communist regime in 1987, and it cost the Nichiforiuc family members dearly. They got political exiled and abandoned to Sweden while they had a seven year old boy who was on the verge of being assassinated and was mobbed and beaten in schools in Stockholm after 30 years, their son also became a father, and the family curse continues with threats of kidnapping now on his suns daughter, who now lives with the grandparents in Sweden, the Romanian authorities, remain as if not woken up of the face palm on the democracy given them 25 years ago, and now they still encourage hostile measures on to the people who who did not ask for more than just a better living from the communist regime imposed on them back then.

A family originating from lands Bucovina Romania, who tried living in the city, supported living nightmare caused by the egos of the two countries. Drawn from the ancestors of Nechifor Lipan, "absent hero" of the novel Baltagul, the two spouses Nichiforiuc and their son remained under captivity in a Scandinavian state due to Romanian politics. Their story is real and more disturbing than Sadoveanu's work, interspersed with attempted murder and abductions, over which they laid a layer of mold that many boycotts caused by the Romanian and Sweden. As a bad dream, but real as possible, the two spouses and their descendants, that lasts for more than 30 years without resolution. Born in Suceava Romania, Vasile Nichiforniuc and his wife did not realize that their life was to obtain a cruel twist towards the end of the communist peak era in Romania. The couple and their child, who in November 1897 was seven years old, have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

" On November 15, 1987 was uprising in Brasov. The next day I protested on Calea Victoriei wife and my child, because there were problems in the party. Ceausescu was accompanied by the dictator of Ethiopia then, we have put before the motorcade. When we saw Ceausescu was very angry, she could not believe. Immediately put on Tudor Postelnicu, then Interior Minister, to climb on the third car in the convoy, he led us to the central committee and there we questioned more than two hours and then took us to safety " says Vasile Nichiforiuc.

From here it began one of the greatest acts of persecution by the communist regime over its own members, who chanted on Calea Victoriei against Ceausescu, but only demanded respect for the essential principles on which the Communist Party work. In 1984, Nichiforniuc lost citizenship after another protest against the regime, in which he requested exclusion from the party. There were complaints about the posts that were given through the "law of relatives" in the Department of Industrial Constructions. For his audacity to complain he was called by Securitate (Romanian Secret Police back then) and because of the only presence of his wife he escaped torture and "thrashing" as Nichiforiuc says. Since then and until 1987, the Romanian state has not provided any work or home.

"And after investigation it resulted in Topoloveni, were he was held one week in house arrest at a brother-in-law. I threatened to go back to Ceausescu when I heard that Postelnicu said that we will be exiled. When they saw that we started to run for the hills with wife and child, they sent a helicopter to take us there and then we went to Pitesti with us. They said give us travel passports, but passports were actually stateless. I had 70-80 thousand lei, money raised, with whom I lived from '84 to '87. I was working as a civil engineer until '84, and we were not given work. They boarded the train, led us to Berlin. Back then there were trains Bucharest - Berlin. We had tickets to Oslo, " recalls Basil Nichiforiuc.

For these people, the banishment meant leaving the country without money, almost equivalent to a death sentence.

"We had visas for Norway. Our mistake was when I entered the territory of Sweden. Laws said by the Geneva Convention, that the first country outside the communist countries a person must ask for political asylum. We had visa to Vienna in Austria, but we kept going and we got to Bratislava in Austria, being very tired after the stress I went to the Oslo security. I note, that after 30 years, I made a mistake " , says Nichiforiuc.

When they arrived in Sweden, authorities were extremely reluctant because of visa issues related to transition planning and to Norway. The only connection that Nichiforniuc family would have had to Oslo was by air from Berlin, but the German government refused to change money from Romanian money.

Children and grandchildren, threatened with murder and kidnapping
In Stockholm arrived about 4 am, then went to social services, and then stayed in a hotel. After three months there have received a visa and began the ordeal. Shortly after the banishment of the Nichiforiuc family, Swedish Ambassador in Bucharest (Gustav Binder, cousin to King Carl Gustav 16th of Sweden), Ceausescu rejected his job on the grounds of incompetence. From here started the war of egos, were the family Nichiforiuc was a victim of. One of the effects was the refusal of the Romanian state to Sweden to give immigration visa to them. On the other hand, the Swedish state has not given the rights for a job.

"The Swedish authorities put me to search thousands of jobs without ever having been called for an interview. I with my wife, had to look for 20 to 25 jobs each month, but no one called us for an interview. Swedish law provides that, if you want to have social economical assistance you must show that you have participated in job interviews, and that was impossible for us. Because the Kings cousin was expelled from his ambassador job by Ceausescu, the royal family has done everything so that we did not get the legal service, " told Nichiforiuc.

In Sweden, he worked as a guard and then as a postman, where he was fired when he refused Swedish citizenship, and his wife had the same destiny. Of all, the one who suffered was the boy, when he was seven. Liviu Nichiforniuc, did not get to do any school year in Romania, he lost the Romanian citizenship at the age of four in 1984. In 1994, the parents returned for the first time in the country to enroll their child in a secondary school but failed.

"Nobody wanted to get him in school or give us rent or in Suceava or in Bucharest. After six months, I had to go back to Sweden, where we already had permanent residence ", explains Nichiforiuc.

Since then, family safety in Sweden has been compromised. Liviu Elementary School was hell. In 1997, a young man who looked exactly like the baby of the family was killed by a former student whom Liviu (their son) have had problems with.

"We had to get to a school celebration, but my parents thought it was better to stay home because I do not know anybody anyway. The next day I saw in the newspaper the crime and that, that boy looked a lot like me. they had got a knife in his back. Since the next day I stopped at that school, I wanted to move to another. At that time, the Department of Schools (school inspectorates similar institution in Romania) , did not approve the transfer because there were no real reasons of danger as they put it. They tried to kill me, but that was not a reason for them to move me to another school, " told us Liviu Nichiforiuc, the child of the family, who have now became, in his turn, a parent.

He recalls that in Stockholm he has been to three different schools, but everywhere was he bullied and beaten by students because of he was of Romanian nationality. Currently, Liviu Nichiforiuc has a daughter five years old, resulting from a marriage that ended in divorce. Eight years sought employment in Sweden and received nothing, without any personal faults of all this conflict of political egos. Late last year, he returned to his country Romania to find work, without success so far, and former wife no longer lives in Sweden. For these reasons, recently, Scandinavian State gave another cruel blow when he pulled their little girl from the population register.

"We gave statements and Notaries, at the embassy that the child remain in Sweden with grandparents who live there . I do not have Romanian ID, but Swedish ID, therefore, also in Sweden we live. They passed my little girl residing in Strasbourg to Caritas in November last year when I announced that I am leaving Sweden. I wrote myself there with the address, to not be watched when coming to Romania. The girl lives four all consecutive years at the grandparents, living on their pension and not receiving child allowance from the state," says Liviu Nichiforiuc.

It recalls that in 2010 he went to Romania for vaccinate his daughter, and in 2011 the Swedish state refused to recognize the Romanian vaccine and wanted to do it again, which would mean double dose. Girl's family refused the vaccine, which could have endangered the child's life.

"I can not even leave the girl alone in the block, because there is a danger of abduction. In Sweden disappears between 20 and 30 children each month. As long as she lives in Strasbourg on papers it makes it a loot easier to kidnap her. According to Swedish law, if the girl had Swedish citizenship, without allowance or no income, the authorities could forcibly take the baby in social care, so I wanted to do everything possible to to see to that my granddaughter has Romanian citizenship, because then they can not do nothing without having trouble with European laws, " said Vasile Nichiforiuc.

The Romanian state did not receive back
Nichiforiuc family believes that the recent return to Romania, one of the institutions that hinder in any breakthrough would be even SRI (Romanian Secret Police today). They say they have made contact with several people in the family entourage, who fear not only to help them in an employment, but also to give them a rent.

"The biggest problem for me is that I do not have Romanian ID card . Maybe then they opened opportunity doors for jobs, because this is an issue. I was hired for three days in a company in Iasi, then I was kicked out because of it. And above all that Sweden does not want to give my daughter's child allowance, so we are asking child allowance in Romania. " explains Liviu Nichiforiuc.

"We asked for the help of close engagement, and we were told that they could lose their service because we left Romania as political exiled. I think that it is involved and SRI (Romanian Secret Police today)" completed, Vasile, Liviu's father.

He says that the Romanian state is responsible for a robbery at their house in Radauti. The damage values were never recovered and the thieves did not pay even today for their deed.

"In July 2012 we protested in Strasbourg, because I got to have a small pension and a protest against the Romanian state, because the same years, thieves broke the relatives house in Radauti. In court, the thieves said they handed over the goods Border Police and to the Local Police. The two institutions have never admitted that they have had it in their possession. I understand that the main thief had fled to England. I asked for his extradition, and the Romanian state opposed. In 2010 we announced that on retirement, I'll return back to Romania. The house is are in the same state since 1990. It was therefore a planned robbery, so that we can not have any money to return home, " Vasile Nichiforiuc completed.

The whole family is convinced that both Swedish authorities and the Romanian, track their activities step by step. They say, monthly, they receive briefings were they are asked when they return to Sweden, or in other cases, sending envelopes from Iasi to Suceava lasts longer than a month, and phones give out noises. Currently, young Liviu settled temporarily in Iasi, where he tries to find a job. He says he can not because the authorities prevent him from obtaining Romanian passport. His father, Vasile, came only occasionally in the country and will return to Sweden.

"From my pension, I pay 720 euros rent in Sweden and the rest of the money, 300 euros a month I give to Liviu, for the period he will remain in the country ", concluded Vasile Nichiforiuc, sighing with regret on leaving the country that drove 25 years ago that he collapsed the future, not just himself, but also to his entire family.
